Jopson, N. (1997) Tissue mobilization rates in male fallow deer (Dama dama) as determined by computed tomography: the effects of natural and enforced food restriction.
Animal Science
The effects of body composition, hormone status and season on changes in fat and muscle reserves during the rut were examined in fallow bucks. It was concluded that the intitial amount of fat reserve and presence or absence of testosterone produced clear differences in the pattern of body tissue mobilization in fallow bucks
