Waghorn, G.C. (1993) Gas production and nitrogen digestion by rumen microbes from deer and sheep.
NZ Journal of Agricultural Research
The objective of this study was to determine whether the lower frequency of rumen eructation contractions in deer, compared to sheep and other ruminants may have been associated with a lower rate of gas production. Results from the study showed that the difference between deer and sheep in the frequency of rumen eructation contraction sequences does not appear to be related to rates of gas production in the rumen
