Board continuity as three directors return 

Deer Industry New Zealand (DINZ) returns three directors, including the Chair, to the DINZ Board after the conclusion of the selection and appointments process, with the sole producer appointment confirmed on 10 June. 

The DINZ Board is made up of eight members, four appointed by producers through the New Zealand Deer Farmers’ Association Selection and Appointment Panel (NZDFA SAP) and four appointed by processors/exporters. 

DINZ Chair Paddy Boyd will return as Chair and producer-appointed director, while Tony Cochrane (PGG Wrightson) and Nigel Jones (Alliance) will return as processor-appointed directors. The processor-appointed directors were confirmed just prior to the mid-May deer industry conference. 

“Good governance needs a balance of fresh ideas but also consistency,” says Boyd. “While last year’s elections saw two new directors join the DINZ Board, this year returns three experienced directors, giving us important stability around the table—and we’re in a strong position to just get on to addressing the issues facing the industry. At the same time, bringing in new perspectives will remain important in future elections to ensure we continue to challenge ourselves and avoid complacency.”
