From Issue 44 of the DINZ eNews:

The 2018 Deer Industry Conference, Staying ahead of the game, will be held in Timaru from 15-17 May. Some joint sessions will be held with the deer branch of the NZ Veterinarian Association which will be meeting in Timaru at the same time.

On Tuesday 15th the programme will begin with a series of short, sharp, farm and research-based technical sessions and the NZDFA’s AGM. The main conference sessions will follow on Wednesday 16th, concluding with the Awards dinner that evening. The event is strongly supported by the South Canterbury Branch of the NZDFA which will host an optional field trip to showcase deer farming along the Rangitata River from the gorge through to the river’s upper reaches in the high country.

DINZ producer manager Tony Pearse says the three days will “be interesting, while also adding a lot of value to your business. Past events in South Canterbury have also been a great deal of fun and I expect this one to be no different.”

He urges farmers and other industry players who haven’t been to a conference for a while and also in particular next generation deer farmers to pencil this one in their diaries. Look for more information in the new year.
